In a big relief to megastar Amitabh Bachchan, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Friday admitted his writ petition challenging the quashing of allotment of farmland in Barabanki district by the Faizabad Additional commissioner and also stayed its order.

A single bench headed by Justice DP Singh while granting four week's time to the state government for filing a counter affidavit and two weeks to Bachchan for filing a rejoinder, fixed July 23 as the next date of hearing of the matter.

The court had reserved its order on the admissibility of Bachchan's petition after hearing at length the counsels for the concerned parties on Thursday.

Additional Commissioner VS Prasad had, on June one, quashed the transfer of farmland in the name of Bachchan and termed the proceeding as illegal and fraudulent.
