Television personality and Bollywood actress Mandira Bedi bowled audiences over at the Satya Paul show on Friday. Better known for the cricketing 'Extraa Shots', Mandira admits she had never imagined herself walking the ramp with professional models...
Doing the catwalk:
I have done a lot of live events but this was the first time that I was on ramp! It was a different experience. I never expected it to happen but I got a call from the designer and thought why not take a shot? Initially I was nervous. The choreographer of the show asked me to smile just a little bit but when I was out there I couldn't pretend...I was myself and that made me feel very comfortable.
Why Satya Paul:
Satya Paul is 'me'! I can relate to his clothes so well. I have been wearing them for so long. Even in my latest play 'Anything but love' I am wearing his outfits. He is a dear friend and I just couldn't say no to him. Also, his clothes are wearable and comfortable. but there's one disadvantage...you can't wear them again...they are so unforgettable!
Her passion:
Theatre, I love doing live shows....you can also count ramp walking in that now.
Current projects:
I am doing a show for Sahara called Dial One 4 Sahara and another reality show for Sony called Kala Academy in India...this will take off from where Indian Idol left.
Her favourite designers:
Satya Paul is the best. He's my favourie. I also love wearing Ritu Kumar and Kiran Uttam Ghosh's clothes.
Her take on LIFW 2005:
I think it's going great uptil now that's the reason I am also here. I'll be back for more on Sunday. Otherwise, it's a great platform for designers and even models to grow in their career.
Her statement of style:
Whenever I want to put my best foot forward I wear SAREES. I believe saree is the best and the most graceful outfit a woman can opt for. Otherwise, I am quite casual in what I wear. I like to sport a grungy look like jeans, Tees and Keds. I need to be chillaxed in what I wear.
Her love for cricket:
I became infamous for my 'noodle-straps' but at the same time I love cricket. I am doing shows like the Super Series. I keep myself updated with cricket news - after all I am getting paid for it!
Five must-haves in her wardrobe:
White strappy spaghetti
Basic blue jean
Black short 'noodle-strap' blouse that gels with any saree
Obviously a SAREE - must buy!
