A telefilm maker TD Kumar on Monday said the dramatic twists and turns in the personal life of Congress President Sonia Gandhi have inspired him to make the movie.
Titled `Sonia Sonia', the film captures the story of a young simple girl, is commissioned by a NRI.

The movie, launched in Mumbai last night, intertwines two plots -- one of the girl's metamorphosis from a simple average youth to an activist and second of her life being influenced by the character of Gandhi, which she plays in the movie.
"I did not want to make a direct movie on Sonia. I wanted to show how her life has impacted so many Indians. The format used is a `film within a film'. The movie is based on a lot of research both on Gandhi's life, India's history, and various other events," Kumar said.
"I was spurred to make the film, when I saw how Gandhi, who had passed through so many personal tragedies, emerged from her simple apolitical life to becoming an enigmatic leader. Her journey from the ashes to the victory stand and then suddenly giving it all away, is what inspired me," Kumar, who had earlier made a film `Nehru-A Jewel', said.
Sonia's part is played by a young NSD graduate Purava Parag, he said. Kumar plans to release the film `Sonia Sonia' on December 9, to coincide with Congress President's birthday.
"We plan to call her (Gandhi) for inaugurating the film."
