Fitness modelling: MP lad to represent country
Not everyday does a lad from Bhopal get the opportunity to represent the country in an international fitness modelling championship. Twenty-five year old Yasir Khan is among those rare exceptions.
Not everyday does a lad from Bhopal get the opportunity to represent the country in an international fitness modelling championship.
Twenty-five year old Yasir Khan is among those rare exceptions. Scheduled for February 2015, the competition is being organised by International Federation for Body Building (IFBB) a coveted organisation for the same.
Confident of getting home the title, Yasir shares, “Not many Indians have gone ahead in this competition. It is for this reason that I am working on my flaws and trying to overpower all of them.”
Hiring the services of a foreign coach, Yasir yearns the dearth of sponsors in this sport.
“Fitness modeling is such an expensive sport. You cannot afford to get out of shape and moreover you need to invest a lot,” he points.
Also featured on the cover page of Men’s health magazine in 2011, Yasir recently got his DVD released by them as a part of their anniversary edition.
The first of its kind to be released by the magazine in the country, the DVD focuses on the lifestyle followed by Yasir.
“The DVD is focused on educating the young with the right kind of health advice. It has the basic no and yes for the right kind of fitness regime. One can simply follow the instructions and exercises in the DVD and train themselves,” points Yasir.
With a long journey behind him Yasir feels that his hard work and determination to make it to the top has got him these results.
“I train with expensive instruments today, but there was a time when I had the very basics. I feel thankful to the almighty for being able to make my mark,” he said.
A celebrity fitness trainer and a fitness model on an international level, Yasir is among the handful of trainers who have been certified by the American college of sports and medicine for imparting online training.
