The mighty Brahmaputra river and its tributaries in Assam maintained a rising trend and was flowing above the danger mark in Majuli, the world's largest river island.

In Sonitpur district of the state, Jiabhorolig river, a major tributary of the Brahmapurta, was flowing above the danger level submerging vast areas in thickly populated Samdhara, Dikoraijan, Napaam and Borghat districts.

Hundereds of people were rendered homeless in ten districts of Assam as swirling flood waters inundated vast areas in the plains.

More than four lakh people have been affected in the current wave of floods in the state.

In Bihar, Kosi, Bagmati, Kamla Balan and Adhwara rivers crossed the danger mark at various points along their course.
