Flow of river Ganga to be restored at Har-ki-Pauri

After a fortnight, the flow of river Ganga, which was stopped at Har-ki-Pauri in Hardwar for construction of a bridge, would be restored from midnight tomorrow, an official said today.

"We are going to restore the Ganga water at Har-ki-Pauri from midnight tomorrow," Hardwar Mela officer Om Prakash said. The flow of the river was diverted to nearby Neeldhar area for construction of the bridge meant for streamlining tourist traffic during 'Ardhakumbh mela' next year.

The river had been stopped at Har-ki-Pauri on April 16. The decision to restore the Ganga water at Har-ki-Pauri would also provide succour to people of Delhi who had been facing acute water scarcity, the official said.
