Four killed, 6 injured in road mishap

Four persons, including two minor girls, on Saturday killed and six others injured when a speeding truck ran over them here, police said.

"The incident took place at Hazarika Kheda area when the truck ran over the group of pedestrians, which was on their way to a nearby temple," SP Umesh Dutta said.

Four persons died on the spot while six injured were rushed to Mahatma Gandhi government hospital where they are stated to be in a critical condition, he said.

The district administration has announced a compensation of Rs 20,000 to the next of the kin of the deceased and Rs 5,000 to the injured.
