Gandhi Hockey: Itarsi in quarters
FOUR TEAMS including District Hockey Association, Itarsi; Army Bangalore, Ramgarh and Danapur, qualified for quarterfinals by defeating their respective opponents on the fifth day of All India Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at Gandhi mini stadium in Itarsi on Thursday.
FOUR TEAMS including District Hockey Association, Itarsi; Army Bangalore, Ramgarh and Danapur, qualified for quarterfinals by defeating their respective opponents on the fifth day of All India Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at Gandhi mini stadium in Itarsi on Thursday.
In the first match played between Sai Excellent, Bhopal, and Ramgarh, Ramgarh team won the match 4-2 via tiebreaker after a tough fight which ended in a goal-less draw within the stipulated time.
The second match between Nav Bharat XI and Danapur proved to be a one-sided affair for Danapur which won the match 6-0.
The third match was played between District Hockey Association, Itarsi, and Orange City, Nagpur. Itarsi emerged victorious. Itarsi won the match 4-1.
In the fourth match, Bangalore team defeated Railways, Allahabad, 3-0. Quarterfinals will be played on Friday, said Suresh Dubey, president of the District Hockey Association.
