NO FORMAL action has yet been initiated in the alleged assault case involving the students’ union president Sankalp Joshi and third-year class representative Ankur Gupta of Gandhi Medical College.
However, contemplating strict action, Ankur Gupta has already filed a petition in the Jabalpur High Court, demanding stay on any action against him. The petition is to come up for hearing on Tuesday.
Sources said that the disciplinary committee chaired by head of the orthopaedics department Dr Nirbhay Shrivastava has already submitted the report on the issue to the dean Dr M K Saraswat, but the dean is yet to take formal decision. The dean could not be contacted despite several efforts.
It is learnt that the disciplinary committee has recommended suspension of Sankalp Joshi – who allegedly assaulted Ankur Gupta — for two months, of Gupta himself for one month, taking away of the medals given to them for excelling in education or extra-curricular activities, barring them from studentss’ council elections and also to bar them from next exams.
