Govt to set up two marine police stations in East Godavari

Proposals were sent to government for sanctioning of two more marine police stations in East Godavari district for patrolling in coastal area, said V Nagireddy, Superintendent of Police.

Proposals were sent to government for sanctioning of two more marine police stations in East Godavari district for patrolling in coastal area, said V Nagireddy, Superintendent of Police.

Speaking to reporters he said that Odalarevu and Antervedi were in need of these marine police stations in the district.

He said that Central government would give permission for establishing these stations and it would be expected by March or April this year.

He said Vakalapudi marine police station was already sanctioned and budgetary allotment of Rs 2 lakhs were made for hiring boat for marine police station.

At present patrolling in the coastal area was being done with the cooperation of reliance, crain energy and the port.

He said a high level meeting was held for protection of ONGC properties and police would extend full coopration in providing protection and security in the district.
