Groom fails to count, girl calls off wedding in UP

The incident took place on Friday when one Manoj was to get married in Maritar village.

After initial rituals, the bride, who is a graduate, suspected the groom to be illiterate, the girl's family members said. The girl then asked him to count currency notes in which he failed after which she refused to marry him.

As a dispute arose between the two parties, a panchayat was called in the village after which the kin of the groom left for Bihar, Bansdeeh area SO, Vashisth Narayan said.
