Helmet drive: Cane thrown by cop injures bike rider in MP

A motorbike rider got injured allegedly from the cane thrown by a sub-inspector to stop him during helmet checking drive in the Adhartal locality in Jabalpur.

A motorbike rider got injured allegedly from the cane thrown by a sub-inspector to stop him during helmet checking drive in the Adhartal locality here on Saturday.

Devendra Teware was riding the bike without wearing helmet. On seeing that a helmet checking drive was going ahead, he was about to turn his vehicle. However, sub-inspector SL Tiwari spotted him.

The cane thrown by the sub-inspector allegedly hit him on the head injuring him. Devendra made a complaint with the Adhartal police station in this regard and demanded action against the cop. However, the town inspector denied Devendra got injured when he was hit by the cane.

No helmet, no fuel

In a related development, the petrol pumps on instruction of the district administration did not give fuel to two-wheeler riders who weren't wearing helmet.

The directive had been issued by the district administration to ensure two-wheeler riders wear helmet. District collector SN Rupla, issued an order in this regard on Friday.
