Stating that the teachers should also ensure cultivation of moral and socio-cultural values among students, Hooda in a message issued here on the eve of Teachers Day, said the day was celebrated as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of former president, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was one of the great scholars and philosophers of the country.

State education minister Geeta Bhukkal also extended greetings and best wishes to the teaching community on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

In her message Bhukkal said the day also provided an opportunity to the students to express their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers who impart valuable education to them so that they can face life with confidence when they join the mainstream.
