The incident took place on Saturday night at a village under Bisrakh police station when Baleshwar Nagar, a resident of Ghaziabad, entered into an argument with his two friends — Anil Singh and Ashok Singh — after all of them got drunk. In a fit of rage, Nagar, 32, took out a pistol and shot at his two friends.

According to the police, Anil, 40, succumbed to his injuries at Kailash Hospital a few hours after he was shot at, while Ashok’s condition is critical. The injured has been admitted to ICU. The accused is a history sheeter, the police said.

In total, there were four friends at the party hosted by Nagar in her new house at the village in Greater Noida. Besides Anil and Ashok, Manoj Singh was also present. The police said the host also tried to shoot Manoj, but he managed to run away.

“The accused, Baleshwar Nagar, was arrested on Sunday evening. He has a criminal background and is involved in seven cases of murder and threat,” said Atul Kumar Srivastava, deputy superintendent of police.
