Former BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu alleged that the home minister and home secretary (apparently referring to former home secretary GK Pillai) have misled the people.

"We are not going to leave this matter like this. We will take it to its logical conclusion. We want the person who has misused his office to save a cannot cannot continue as home minister," Naidu said.

BJP has alleged that as home minister, P Chidambaram had ordered the closure of FIRs against a businessman whom he had earlier represented as a lawyer. The Delhi high court and the Supreme Court had earlier turned down the pleas for quashing of the FIRs.

Chidambaram issued a clarification on Friday, saying he was hurt by the charges levelled against him by BJP and maintained that he did not even remember his ex-client.
