He is peeved with the media for "hanging" him over a letter he wrote to Lalu. This prompted the Governor to hold an animated meeting with newsmen.

Your letter recommending an officer's transfer created a lot of hullabaloo...
Whenever an aggrieved person comes to me, I try to help him or her. I have been in public life for the last 50 years and I have handled 15 ministries. I will continue to write such letters. I don't understand this hue and cry.

Were you aware that a vigilance probe was pending against the officer?
Are you investigating me? Am I an accused?

What is your reaction to NDA's demand for your recall?
The NDA has been after me ever since I became governor. They have launched a vilification campaign against me. The media, too, has done its bit to provoke them. Lots of things are being written about me. A TV channel recently claimed that 92 per cent of people in Patna thought poorly of me. Why don't you come along with me on to the streets of Patna for an instant poll on my popularity?

Are you trying to acquire the image of a Dalit leader through your actions? All political parties know I have always worked for Dalits. I already have the image of a Dalit leader. It was because of my efforts that a Dalit reached the top-most position in the country (apparently referring to K.R. Narayanan). What is wrong in being a Dalit leader?

The CPI, which supports the UPA government, has also demanded your resignation. Why?
(I do not know about party affiliations).

Recent crime figures show there has been a rise in crime.
(DGP Ashish Ranjan Sinha replies) Don't go by the figures. See if crime is being effectively handled. We have arrested two notorious Siwan criminals. Also, two kidnappers were shot down. Police are doing their job well.

When will you divide work between your advisor Arun Pathak and chief secretary G.S. Kang?
It is an internal matter of the administration. Anyway, it will be done within the next couple of days.
