Illegal razing of slums: 2 policemen, 8 others booked
Acting on the directions of the Borivli metropolitan magistrate’s court, the Malad police has registered a case against the senior police inspector of Bangur Nagar police station, Maruti Telang, a police constable and nine others for reportedly illegally razing around 370 shanties in Mutumari Nagar in Malad (West) on May 31 of which 37 had attained stay order from the City Civil Sessions court.
Acting on the directions of the Borivli metropolitan magistrate’s court, the Malad police has registered a case against the senior police inspector of Bangur Nagar police station, Maruti Telang, a police constable and nine others for reportedly illegally razing around 370 shanties in Mutumari Nagar in Malad (West) on May 31 of which 37 had attained stay order from the City Civil Sessions court.
The others booked in the case include the local corporator and her husband, two municipal officers, a builder and his two men, the police added.
Local, Shiudami Kumar Harijan, whose shanty was razed, then approached the court and her application was forwarded to the Malad police station on September 9.
A first information report was lodged on against the 11 persons on September 11, said a police official.
Additional commissioner of police (north region) Ramrao Pawar confirmed that the case has been registered against 11 persons.
“The metropolitan magistrate’s court has directed the Malad police to investigate the matter and submit its report, following which a decision will be taken,” added Pawar.
