Information pollution affecting young minds: Samaddar
The Director of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Professor AB Samaddar has warned against the information pollution being caused with the advancement of information technology and termed it as toxic content affecting the young minds of the country. Prof Samaddar was speaking as chief guest at the two-day national seminar on ' Sensor networks and Application' organised at JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology, Allahabad University .

Prof Samaddar was speaking as chief guest at the two-day national seminar on ' Sensor networks and Application' organised at JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology (JKIAPT), Allahabad University (AU), in association with The Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers, Allahabad Centre on Saturday. AU Vice-Chancellor Prof RG Harshe presided over the inaugural function.
While highlighting the importance of sensors in future Prof Samaddar advocated for development of capability in ourselves rather than using the technology of others. He urged the students and young engineers to work with a zeal to serve the needs of country and for that one has to prepare himself sincerely.
He said that with advance technologies the big ones are going to bully you and this should not be allowed to happen. He advised the students to think big, be humanist and work together for the pride of the country.
AU Vice-Chancellor Prof Harshe in his presidential speech agreed with the views of Prof Samaddar and said that the information revolution is so fast that if we do not accelerate and prepare ourselves we might be thrown out of the competition.
Prof Harshe said that similar technologies and ideas were being used by crime syndicates, terrorists and persons involved in nefarious acts and there should be law to check that the technology is not misused by such elements. Prof also presented a slide show to motivate the audience.
Earlier Prof AK Gupta Head JKIAPT delivered the key note address while Prof SG Prakash of JKIAPT presented the welcome note. The convenor of seminar, Dr US Tiwary, director of IIIT Allahabad presented the introductory speech. Several experts from across the country were present on the occasion and participated in the seminar. Sanjay Kala conducted the proceedings while Engineer PN Gupta of JK Institute proposed a vote of thanks.
