The ship will be formally commissioned by Vice Admiral SCS Bangara, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command.
The 46-metre INS Bangaram is an improved variant of the existing high speed vessels. It offers a cost-effective platform for patrol and rescue operations at sea and has combat capabilities with matching firepower.
The ship would be an additional asset in the inventory of the Southern Naval Command here, the defence PRO said in a release on Sunday.
Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, the ship is capable of doing high speeds and will facilitate effective patrolling in the seas.
