It has also been more or less established that Moitra died of an overdose of drugs.

Also, Harish Sharma, Pramod Mahajan's secretary, was arrested on Tuesday night on the charge of destruction of evidence. Ganesh, a driver working at Pramod Mahajan's 7 Safdarjung Road residence, too also arrested. They were later granted bail. Moitra's viscera report has been handed over to AIIMS for doctors to give a final opinion on the cause of death. The post-mortem report is expected to be handed over to the police on Thursday.

Traces of cocaine have been found in Rahul's urine samples while the white-coloured powder pouches handed over to the CFSL have been found to contain heroin. Traces of heroin have been found in the blood test of Rahul and the vomit of Sahil Zarru. The stomach lavage report is awaited.

"Though we are not ruling out foul play, it appears that Moitra's death was because of an overdose," said Manish Aggarwal, additional DCP, New Delhi. The police are investigating how the viscera report has revealed the presence of cocaine and heroine while the powder has been found to contain only heroin.

The police suspect that Abdullah (the alleged supplier) might have contaminated the drugs by mixing some substance.

The police are also investigating whether Rahul, who had been admitted to Apollo in 2002, was treated for substance abuse and whether he has a past history as indicated by media reports. Apollo Hospital's role in giving Rahul a clean chit is also been looked into. Hospital doctors were questioned on Wednesday and the police said they were preparing grounds to register a case against the hospital.

On Tuesday night, Rahul and Zarru were taken to the Mahajan house for a reconstruction of the sequence of events. Zarru, Rahul and Abdullah were jointly interrogated on Wednesday. Rahul was questioned till late in the night and the police said they might, if needed, request the court to extend his remand.

Rahul's lawyer Sunil Mittal told HT that he was likely to file a bail plea before the Patiala House court on Thursday, when Rahul accused will be produced.

A police team is likely to take Zarru to Srinagar on Thursday. Zarru allegedly took the remaining drugs with him to Srinagar.
