Mir, attached with the state intelligence department, was arrested in the vicinity of his office and was taken to a CBI camp at Humhama near the Srinagar airport, official sources said.

The police officer's name had come up during the CBI's preliminary investigations and he was picked up for interrogation and subsequent identification parade, they said.

The sources said more arrests were likely to be made soon.

The investigating agency on Thursday created ripples in the administrative and social circles in the state by arresting the high profile planning and development commissioner, Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, in connection with the sex scandal.
