H Abdur Haqeeb, Zonal President of the organisation said that the poll was crucial and there was every need to preserve the rule of law without giving room for "fascist and religious forces".
Haqeeb said that a delegation of the Jamaat had already pledged support to the DPA at a recent meeting with DPA President M Karunanidhi.
Meanwhile, Jamaat released its manifesto as well as its charter of demands. Among other things the charter demanded scrapping of POTA and the repeal of anti-conversion law in Tamil Nadu.
