The JMC which is facing the problem of less parking space in their own office for a long time, will get a multi-story parking in their premises. It will be the first multi-story parking in the Jammu city.
K L Khajuria, Municipal Commissioner told HT, “The Deputy Chief minister has given permission to make the multi-story parking in town hall, and sanctioned 1.5 crores for the project, but the budget may increased upto 4 crores as per the requirement.”
“We are making the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the tendering and other formalities will be done within the month’s time and the tender will be given to a single company to make the multi-story parking,” he added.
The Town hall is located at the center of the city and faces the problem of less parking space which leads to traffic chaos near the town hall and Bus stand. The multi-story parking may give some relief to the commuters and visitor of the town hall.
“This multi-story parking will help the visitors and the staff of the Municipal Corporation to park their vehicle in a systematic way, especially after the corporation elections, the number of visitors will increase and the burden for the vehicle parking will be more,” said Khajuria.
The Multi-story parking will be made at the back side of the office of the Municipal Commissioner, which will have the capacity of 100-150 vehicles to be park at one time.
More than 300 vehicles enters the town hall daily and the situation in the existing parking place is worsening by the day.
