Jawan injured in Naxalite-police clash

Naxalites clashed with police early Wednesday resulting in injury to a jawan in a village in Gadchiroli district of eastern Maharashtra.

Naxalites, who have threatened to sabotage the poll process in Vidarbha region, clashed with police early Wednesday resulting in injury to a jawan in a village in Gadchiroli district of eastern Maharashtra, police said.

A police team and Naxalites came face to face at Binagunda village, where the insurgents had conducted a grenade attack on an IAF helicopter on Tuesday.

In the exchange of fire, a state reserve police jawan was injured, Inspector General of Police (Nagpur Range) Pankaj Gupta, said.

The injured has been rushed to Gadchiroli Civil Hospital.

Police parties are on the hunt of the Naxalites, police sources said.

Naxalites have given a poll boycott call and threatened to sabotage the process in Vidarbha region.
