She also backed the BJP’s demand for a joint parliamentary committee probe into the of 2G spectrum licences allocation scam. Calling it the mother of all scams, she said, “Raja had been mocking at all constitutional institutions, including the office of the Prime Minister, the central vigilance commissioner, the CAG and the Supreme Court.”

The AIADMK chief said ministers usually resigned on the advice of the Prime Minister. But in this case, it was officially claimed that Raja had stepped down on Karunanidhi’s advice.

Even as Jayalalithaa kept up pressure on the beleaguered government to go the whole hog against Raja, Karunanidhi claimed that the minister had quit to ensure smooth functioning of Parliament.
