Jet profit at Rs 143 crore

Jet Airways on Tuesday posted an unexpected net profit after two quarters of losses, helped by its growing international operations and cost cutting measures.

Jet Airways on Tuesday posted an unexpected net profit after two quarters of losses, helped by its growing international operations and cost cutting measures.

Jet Airways said net profit in the June quarter was Rs 143 crore up from Rs 30 crore a year earlier. Net sales rose to Rs 2,867 crore from Rs 1,807 crore.

Ahead of the earnings announcement, Jet shares ended 1.8 per cent lower at Rs 439.85 in a Mumbai market that fell 3.9 per cent.

Jet Airways said in June that it would put its international expansion on hold until the end of next year, when it will take delivery of new aircraft.
