Gone are the days when customers had to get hassled about carrying cash, cheque books, cards, or remember pin numbers before going on a shopping expedition. Three Co-operative stores in Oxfordshire have launched the trial of a revolutionary way for shoppers to pay i.e. by fingerprint.

The stores have a finger scan which is linked to their bank details, from where payment for goods is then taken directly from the account. The scheme is being considered for 1,800 outlets. Customers can register on the internet or at stores.

"It's really easy. You just pay with your finger," the Sun quoted a shopper Abi Ward, from Oxford as saying. The system currently operates in America, where it has cut fraud and checkout times.
