Karnataka felicitates Pandit Bhimsen Joshi

Karnataka Government has felicitated Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, who was honoured with the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna.

Karnataka Government has felicitated Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, who was honoured with the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna.

Pandit Bhimsen was felicitated at his residence last night by Karnataka Urban Development Minister S Suresh Kumar who presented him the traditional 'Kadkam´ garland, an image of Lord Krishna carved out of sandalwood and a cheque of Rs five lakh.

Kumar said Pandit Bhimsen is a 'cultural bridge' that connects Karnataka and Maharashtra through his music.

Bhimsen, who has settled down in Pune for decades, originally hails from the border state.
