His dharna came a day after BJP president Rajnath Singh urged the people not to play Holi and the party announced to take out two ‘Ekta yatras’. His dharna also came a day after BJP workers and Shiv Sainiks tried to cause obstructions during the visit of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to the temple town and showed him black flags.

However, Katiyar’s dharna failed to draw any large crowds and he had to lift the dharna by evening.

Katiyar left no stone unturned in giving a communal twist to the incident even as he demanded a CBI probe. Katiyar also used the occasion to focus on the differences between Centre and the State government on the issue of tackling terror attacks.

Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Murli Manohar Joshi, who also visited the Sankat Mochan temple, demanded that central agencies should be asked to conduct probe into the attacks. Joshi lauded the RSS role in carrying out relief work and asserted that secularism could not be a one way traffic.

Meanwhile, MS Bitta of All India Anti-Terrorist Front took out an anti-terrorist rally in the city today. Among those who also visited the city on Thursday included former George Fernandes, UPCC chief Salman Khurshid, Shiv Sena MP Chanderkant Khere besides director general of UP Police Yashpal Singh.

They all visited the blast sites and the injured admitted in different hospitals.

George Fernandes who also visited the blast sites and the hospitals where the injured were admitted, demanded a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism in the country.

On Wednesday BJP chief Rajnath Singh and former chief minister Mayawati demanded dismissal of Mulayam government and imposition of President’s rule in the State.

Shiv Sena MP Chanderkant Khare, and Anti-Terrorist Front chief MS Bitta
demanded dismissal of the UP government.
