Kavita brings back Audrey
Her ethereal and utterly charming designs rocked the runway on Friday afternoon in the Capital.
Regal, ethereal, utterly charming and a completely captivating woman - Audrey Hepburn – rocked the runway on Friday afternoon in the Capital. Wondering what the occasion was? It was Kavita Bhartia’s show on day three of the fashion week. And she played on the evergreen Audrey Hepburn's style.

Though the creations were exaggerated and brazen, the show aimed at flaunting the style of the fairest lady (as she was fondly known as) through the ensembles by the Delhi based designer.
The line saw affluent fabrics like laces, velvets, silks, Irish cottons and leather with a metallic sheen to it. Whether worn as separates or clubbed together, the outfits seemed to be quite wearable.
Also spotted were churidaar pants worn with halter tees, lacy shrugs and bustiers that looked racy enough to seduce. Other ensembles included hip shirts with long slits and skin-hugging tights in animal prints made for slender women. Some of the skin coloured transparent tights were worn with a front open gown, which looked funny as it revealed the model’s panty line and were a tad tacky.
The look was loud yet glamorous. One could find a wide range of silhouettes in Bhartia’s range. Saris that were uplifted with crimpled tissue at the ends, looked fascinating. Ponchos, air filled kaftans, racer back tees were among the ‘must grab’ at her show!
Also, the embellishment techniques were unique with printing, heavy embroidery and sitara work. The ensembles were formal yet fun.
The colour palette was kept neutral, probably to balance the loud ornamentation on the creations. Restricted shades of black, gold and silver were also used.
