Police said Parul Biswas of Poladanga village in north Bengal's Malda district called Subodh Biswas, 40, to her residence and then axed him with a sharp weapon.
Subodh was married and a father of two, while Parul's husband died seven years ago. Her only son works in Malda town and she lived alone.
When Subodh again made an indecent proposal to her, she took him to a room on the second floor, bolted the room from inside and then attacked him.
Subodh's screams alerted the neighbours. But when they arrived they found Parul leaving the house hurriedly. She went straight to Gajal police station, narrated the incident and was arrested.
