Lalu's kin assaults doctor, case registered
Munna Yadav and his associates attacked LP Srivastava with iron rods and hockey sticks on Wednesday night.
A kin of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav allegedly assaulted a doctor in Bihar's Gopalganj district, police said on Thursday.
Munna Yadav, the brother-in-law of Lalu Prasad's brother-in-law Subhash Yadav, and his associates, allegedly attacked LP Srivastava with iron rods and hockey sticks on Wednesday night for refusing to live at Munna's house as a tenant, police said.
Srivastava was assaulted in the clinic of his wife Anita Sinha, who is also a doctor, they said.
A case was registered against Munna and four unknown accomplices at Mirganj police station on the basis of a complaint by Anita. The accused have been absconding since the incident.
Subash Yadav, a RJD Rajya Sabha member, is the brother of Lalu Prasad's wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi.
Police said that Srivastava was Munna's tenant at Mirganj a year ago and later shifted to another house. Munna was allegedly pressuring Srivastava to return to his house but the latter had consistently refused to do so, sources said.
On Wednesday night, when Srivastava was returning to his home, Munna and four others tried to intercept his vehicle. Following this, Srivastava took refuge in his wife's clinic at Rajendra Chowk.
The five men then barged into the clinic and severely beat up Srivastava, who was shifted to Hathwa Hospital for treatment.
Anita alleged that Munna had frequently extorted money from her and her husband and wanted them to return as tenants so that he could extort more.
