Narendra Singh Sengar even sent a packet containing some documents purportedly pertaining to a purchase made in the United States to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow a few days ago.

But instead of the appreciation he probably expected, Singh, who is well known in the underworld, has been sacked from the BSP and is on the run, with the police having conducted raids in Kanpur and Allahabad to nab him.

“It is a serious matter,” Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh said on Friday. So serious that the matter was initially handed over to Home Department for investigation.
