You ain’t experienced anything till you’ve taken a leap off the Macau Tower. At 764ft, the world’s highest bungee jump takes you six seconds to get down (it takes 60 to go up in the elevator), and you do so at 200 km/hr. Visit macau.ajhackett.com

One night in Bangkok can be fun at its best, especially if it’s New Year’s Eve. Ring in 2011 at the party district Sukhumvit, in Blue Velvet, Narcissus, Nest, Demo or Bed Supperclub. Get your second wind at The Eugenia, a hidden gem of a hotel.www.theeugenia.com

Singapore’s popular club, Zouk (17 Jiak Kim St) is internationally renowned and the winner of this year’s Best Nightspot Experience, The Butter Factory (1 Fullerton Road) being its closest competitor. Zirca Mega Club (The Cannery, Clarke Quay), mixes live shows with music — a spectacle you can’t miss.

Thamel in Kathmandu used to be the hippie hangout, but is now backpacker paradise. Comparing it to Vegas might be a bit of a stretch, but there’s no shortage of ways to spend your money here. Place your bets on Casino Anna or Casino Royale. Climb up to the Annapurna Sanctuary for a close view of Nepal’s giant peaks.

The Philippines
When in Manila, do as the Filipinos do. Make a beeline for the capital’s most happening nightlife district — Makati. It is home to Greenbelt, with its strip of nightclubs and restaurants, as well as some of Manila’s best hotels, including Shangri-La, Peninsula, Mandarin Oriental and Dusit Hotel Nikko.

Hong Kong
A New Year’s institution, the Countdown Carnival is a place to dance and keep the kids entertained with jugglers, magic shows and the entire candyfloss shebang. The fireworks that go off at midnight are a spectacle.

Some of the best parties here are at Al Bustan and at The Chedi, both of which are destinations in their own right.

Pick two ways to party in KL — one at ground level and the other way up high. For the first, head to Asian Heritage Row. Want something more high flying? Then your destination is the swish Luna Bar on the 34th floor of the at the Pacific Regency Hotel Suites (www.pacific-regency.com) and Sky Bar on level 33 of the Traders Hotel (www.shangri-la.com).
