Li’l chefs set new sandwich world record

The students of Ryan International School, Ludhiana succeeded in preparing the world’s heaviest sandwich weighing 4,035 kilograms. The students made this heaviest sandwich during an activity organised under International School Awards (ISA) project at Ryan International School premises on Sunday. <b1>
The sandwich was an Indo-Italian one, a fusion and blend of two cultures and flavours comprising Indian breads with Italian fillings. The school students accomplished this task in association with Muskaan Power Infrastructure Ltd.
The past record of making the heaviest sandwich in the world was of 3,187 kilogram and the Ryan students surpassed this record by preparing sandwich-weighing 4,035 kilogram. For making this sandwich, 120 loaves of bread each having 2 feet length and 3 feet width were used. Besides this vegetables weighing 400 kilogram, cheese weighing 100 kilogram and pasta and potatoes weighing 5,000 kilogram were used.
About 160 students of Class VI participated in the event and took approximately 3 hours to accomplish the task. The students learnt the recipe of making this sandwich through online interaction with the students of some European schools, as this activity was a part of International School Awards (ISA) project approved by the British Council, UK.
Senior vice president Coca Cola was there to judge the event on behalf of Limca Book of Records.
Speaking on the occasion, the school principal Gurpreet Sandhu said that such activities enhance the imaginative skills of the children and also develop the power to ‘Think Big and Achieve Big’.
