Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Thursday hailed the Indian team's series clinching win against Pakistan in the fourth ODI at Multan, Pakistan.

India thrashed Pakistan by five wickets in the day-night affair to win the five-match series 3-1.

Chatterjee congratulated the entire team on its achievement and said "the current tour of the Indian cricket team to Pakistan has definitely helped in further endearing people of both the countries to each other."

"I hope the spirit of friendship displayed by players and spectators during the series will transcend the territorial boundaries and further strengthen the relationship between the two nation," he said in the message.

He also expressed hope that the series win would "inspire us to thrive for excellence in various other sporting events too, in days to come".

India won the one-day cricket series against Pakistan in Pakistan second time on the trot, the previous win came in 2004.
