LTTE aide let out on bail

A functionary of a leading pro-LTTE party in TN was let out on bail even after he admitted to his crime, reports GC Shekhar.

In a shocking example of police caving in to political pressure, a functionary of a leading pro-LTTE party in Tamil Nadu, who was arrested for allegedly importing propellers and spare parts used in speedboats and was planning to send them to the LTTE, was let out on bail even after he admitted to his crime.

Jayaraj Rathinam, alias Vanni Arasu, 36, editor of Tamil Mann (Tamil Soil), the official organ of Dalit Panthers of India, a close ally of the ruling DMK, was arrested after it was discovered that the consignment sent to him by a LTTE functionary were actually meant to be redirected to the Tigers.
