Police said the extremists called Sankar Das Adhikari out of his home at Chilgara village this morning and pumped several bullets.

The Maoists then warned the villagers not to involve in CPI-M activity, else they would suffer the same fate.

In another incident, a local leader of Jharkhand Party (Naren), Gunadhar Sing, was shot dead last night by the rebels at Majheria village, police said.

Before leaving, the Maoists left some handbills which warned villagers against involvement in anti-Maoist activity.
