The resignation has come in the wake of incident at Masajid Committee office three days ago when employees had a face-off with Waseemuddin for allegedly forcing them to sing Vande Mataram. He was reportedly manhandled and the enraged employees had reportedly ransacked his chamber.

It was also alleged that Waseemuddin had mistreated the Ulema. Sources said that the employees were unhappy with the style of functioning of Waseemuddin and the latter had sensed that the situation was not conducive for him to work at the same office anymore.

He handed over the resignation to the Chairman M Habib Beg, who has intimated the Minister for Minorities’ Welfare Rustam Singh. The resignation would be forwarded to the government on Monday.
