'Militant killed in Kashmir’s Razdan '

The army on Thursday claimed to have killed a militant on the treacherous Razdan pass in north Kashmir's Bandipora-Gurez area. HT reports.

The army on Thursday claimed to have killed a militant on the treacherous Razdan pass in north Kashmir's Bandipora-Gurez area.

An army spokesman said that the army personnel conducted a patrol at Ninao Gali, Razdan Pass, after observing suspicious movement on Wednesday.

"While carrying out patrolling, the troops of the army's 36 Rashtriya Rifles observed suspicious movement. There was exchange of fire between the militants and the patrol. In the ensuing encounter an unidentified militant was killed," said that the spokesman.

One AK-47 Rifle, one radio set, two hand grenades and one map were recovered from the killed militants.

In a separate incident, the spokesman said that the Army unit carried out search operations in north Kashmir's Keran sector on receiving specific inputs from police in Kupwara.

"One AK-47 Rifle and one radio set were recovered in the operation," said that the army spokesman. The search operation in the area was on till the last reports came in.
