Militants attack police post near a sufi shrine in Budgam district

A policeman was injured seriously after unknown gunmen attacked a police party at Pakherpora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday evening.

According to police sources, three unidentified gunmen barged inside a police barrack which was guarding the shrine of Syed Ali Balki at Pakherpora in the district. The gunmen attacked a policeman on his head with an iron rod and then fired upon him before fleeing from the spot.

The injured policeman has been identified as constable Shabir Ahmad Mir.

They said that the gunmen also managed to decamp with three S L R rifles from the police post.

Police and army have launched massive search operation to nab the assailants.
