An earthquake registering 4.5 on the Richter scale and two aftershocks rocked eastern Taiwan on Tuesday, the seismology centre said.
But there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The tremor struck at 13.39 pm, with its epicentre 11.2 kilometres north of Peinan town in Taitung county and 16.2 kilometres underground.
The quake was followed within 80 minutes by two aftershocks measuring 4.7 and 4.4 on the Richter scale.
At least 51 people were injured by falling objects when an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 jolted Taitung on Saturday.
Taiwan, lying near the junction of two tectonic plates, is regularly shaken by earthquakes.
The country's worst, a magnitude-7.6 quake, killed some 2,400 people in September 1999.
