More than 25 per cent polling in UP

Polling in 15 seats of Uttar Pradesh picked up by the afternoon with 25.32 per cent voters exercising their franchise.

Polling in 15 seats of Uttar Pradesh picked up by the afternoon with 25.32 per cent voters exercising their franchise.

"Till 1 pm an average of 25.32 per cent polling was registered while the maximum turnout was reported in Jhansi which recorded 30.25 per cent polling," election department officials here said.

While 28 per cent polling was reported in Sitapur, 23 per cent was reported in Lucknow, sources said.

Almost 2.23 crore voters are expected to exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 256 candidates in 15 seats spread over 16 districts of the state.
