Shah was junior home minister in the Modi cabinet when the police shot Prajapati, the sole eyewitness to the abduction and killings of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauser Bi by a joint team of Gujarat and Rajasthan police.

The CBI’s charge sheet submitted to a court in Danta on September 4 has noted that after the SC ordered a probe into the Sohrabuddin encounter case, Shah became “increasingly active to derail the probe.”
