Police have filed a case of negligence against unknown persons. They have not booked anyone. DCP (Zone IX) Niket Kaushik said: “There is no doubt it is a case of negligence. What remains to be seen is who was actually responsible for maintaining the garden. There seems to have been some contract between the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the Kamla Raheja foundation but we are not sure of the specifics of it.” The park belongs to the BMC but the Kamla Raheja foundation has allegedly been given a contract to maintain it.
Senior police inspector Dilip Gaikwad said Pravin used to go to the garden everyday with his grandmother.
