Siddiqui was here to participate in the party’s divisional workers conference.
Terming Dalit and Muslims as natural allies, he said it was Mayawati who had introduced various policies for the uplift of the minorities.
Continuing his bid to woo the minorities, Siddiqui accused the State government of not providing security to the minority community and cited the recent murder of Maulana Nisar Ahmad in Laxmipur of Maharajganj district and demanded arrest of the accused immediately. He said the State government had issued a GO on October 10, 2005 to provide Scheduled Caste status to 16 backward classes and said it was a well-planned conspiracy of the Samajwadi Party to deprive these 16 castes including Bind, Prajapati, Rajbhar and others from the benefit of getting employment.
He said Mulayam Singh Yadav was well aware that the State government has not right to provide SC status to any caste. He called upon the minority community to support Mayawati. He also condemned the Union government for raising controversial issues like Vande Mataram to divert the attention of common people from its own failures.
Former minister Sukhdev Rajbhar and Shrinath, Dr Aziz Ahmad, Talat Aziz, Lal Amin Khan and others also attended the meeting.
