During a narco test carried out in June — the contents of which were run by a private news channel on Monday — Aditi Sharma has allegedly admitted to poisoning ex-boyfriend Udit Bharati in April, in connivance with her current boyfriend Praveen Khandelwal.

All three students of Balaji Institute of Modern Management in Wakad, Pune — in their early 20s — hail from Jammu.

Pune Deputy Commissioner of Police Chandrashekhar Daithankar told HT: “It would not be fair for investigators to comment on the report as
the case has reached an important level and the matter is sub judice.”

The alleged confession has shocked the students’ colleagues.

At the start of the academic year, Sharma and Bharati were a ‘very much-in-love’ couple. They had even moved in together, said the Nigdi police, who are investigating the case.

However, things changed when Khandelwal entered the scene. Sharma developed feelings for him and dumped Bharati.

Angry, Bharati would repeatedly confront the couple. This annoyed the Sharma and Khandelwal and they hatched a plan to get rid of Bharati, the police said.

In the narco test, Sharma allegedly confessed she and Khandelwal gave Bharati poison-laced prasad after a visit to the Sai Baba temple in Shirdi.

Khandelwal is out on bail. Sharma is still at Yerawada jail.
