Naxals kidnap 6, set ablaze vehicles in J'khand

The Maoists forcibly took away three employees of the state Road Construction Corporation.

Naxalites have kidnapped six men engaged in a bridge construction after setting ablaze some vehicles on NH-23 bordering Gumla and Simdega districts, police said on Thursday.

About 40 CPI (Maoist) activists swooped down on the place and set ablaze the construction contractor's jeep and a generator set on Wednesday night at Dasligaon, Superintendent of Police, Gumla, Murari Lal Meena said.

The Maoists forcibly took away three employees of the state Road Construction Corporation and three labourers employed by the contractor, he said.

They were engaged in a construction work of a bridge near the national highway, Meena added.

The naxalites also set fire to a truck carrying pipes on the NH on their way back to the forests, he said.

Police forces rushed to the spot and combing operations were launched to trace the abducted men.
