The shopkeepers and residents of the area said the MC had installed a bin for dumping garbage but the vat remains brimful as it is not cleared regularly. The problem gets acute when litter is not removed for days.

Foul smell emanating from the site is also causing difficulties for the shopkeepers and passersby, alleged the locals.A shopkeeper said with the present scorching weather, the garbage site could become a breeding ground for various diseases, parasites and mosquitoes.

The locals urged the executive officer of the MC to take steps to solve the issue. They also seek district administration's intervention in this matter.
