Nine cops suspended for negligence of duty

Nine policemen, including three assistant sub-inspectors and six constables, were on Tuesday suspended for alleged negligence of duty, police said.

The officials posted at Katwara and Tanda outposts of the district were suspended after a huge cache of the Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) was recovered from different villages which fall under their jurisdiction.

According to the district superintendent of police Nipurna Toravne, the action was taken after receipt of a complaint against the officers two days back.

The SP said raids were carried out in Ralyadi, Katwara and Varamkada villages where IMFL worth Rs 2.88 lakh was recovered.

The policemen were suspended and departmental inquiry being initiated against them for allegedly showing negligence on duty, police said.
